On Saturday, the group headed to Holy City Brewing. This is a newer brewery in Charleston, and it’s where we started our brewery tours. They have a great outdoor space with a cornhole setup and plenty of picnic tables to enjoy the sunshine and beers with friends. Unfortunately, they were not able to let us inside their taproom or brewery due to ongoing renovations, but they were very accommodating and brought out a nice selection of beer for us to sample.
The next stop on our tour was Frothy Beard Brewing Company. This place was packed! It’s located in North Charleston near the airport, but we didn’t have any trouble finding parking. There is also a free shuttle that runs from downtown so you don’t have to drive if you’d rather not. Once you get there, you are greeted by a pirate ship which I thought was pretty cool. Inside Frothy Beard there are a ton of different games to play like cornhole and pool. They also had someone playing live music which added to the fun atmosphere.
The group will hop off at each location for a 30-minute stop, at which point you can explore on your own or purchase a sample flight or pint from the taproom. You’ll be able to see how each brewery is set up and see if there’s enough seating for your party (there usually isn’t).
I recommend this as the first step in your brewery tour because it allows you to check out several breweries without having to deal with parking, traffic, or Uber. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to talk with knowledgeable guides about what else is going on in town and ask for recommendations for other things to do during your visit.
For any queries, feel free to call. Coastal Limousine of Charleston is always available for you.
